aespa is a four-member girl group under SM Entertainment that debuted on November 17, 2020 with "Black Mamba." A pioneer in bringing a full metaverse worldview to K-pop, the group connects each member to a virtual avatar "æ" and the virtual world "KWANGYA," and made a strong impression in both concept and music from the start. Alongside IVE, LE SSERAFIM, NMIXX, and BABYMONSTER they represent the fourth generation, standing out in particular for album sales and global stage expansion.
From the debut single "Black Mamba," aespa differentiated themselves with hard-hitting beats and an SF concept, and back-to-back mega-hits "Next Level" and "Savage" quickly settled them near the top. Their official fandom name is MY, a direct reflection of the worldview's close bond between members and fans.

The core of aespa's music is the meshing of hard electronic/hip-hop sounds with the "KWANGYA" worldview narrative. They expand a storyline — the avatar æ, the virtual being nævis, and the antagonist "Black Mamba" — across each album, reaching a peak in "Drama," "Supernova," and "Whiplash." Their razor-sharp choreography draws particular buzz in stage fancams.
Their 2022 EP "Girls" set the record for the best-selling album by a K-pop girl group and became the first girl-group album to top one million copies in its first week, while 2023's "My World" surpassed two million sales and entered the Billboard 200 top 10. In 2024, "Supernova" spent eleven weeks atop the Circle Digital Chart and won "Song of the Year" at that year's MAMA and Melon Music Awards. In April that year they performed at Coachella, becoming the third K-pop girl group to take that stage.
On May 29, 2026 aespa released their second studio album "Lemonade" (10 tracks), their first full-length in roughly two years since 2024's "Armageddon." On May 11 they had built anticipation with the pre-release single "WDA (Whole Different Animal)," featuring G-DRAGON. Individual stages can be browsed under the Karina, Winter, Giselle, and Ningning categories.
